Canadian Press NewsAlert:StatsCan says consumer price index up 1.5 per cent

Statistics Canada says the consumer price index for January rose 1.5 per cent compared with a year ago, driven higher by shelter, transportation and food costs.

The Bank of Canada’s core index, which excludes some of the more volatile items, was up 1.4 per cent.
