Virginia man faces sentencing in death of NY superintendent over online relationship with wife
MAYVILLE, N.Y. – A Virginia man faces sentencing for killing an upstate New York school superintendent over an online relationship he was having with the man’s wife.
A Chautauqua County jury in November convicted Anthony Taglianetti of second-degree murder in the 2012 death of Keith Reed, who headed the Clymer Central School District.
Taglianetti is scheduled to be sentenced Monday. District Attorney David Foley has said he would seek the maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
During the trial, Foley told jurors that Taglianetti, an ex-Marine, was driven to kill by a sexually explicit email he discovered between his wife and Reed. The two had had a brief physical relationship in 2010 and had renewed their acquaintance online.
Reed was shot three times outside the Clymer home where he lived alone.
