TORONTO – A number of Canadian Olympians are back on home soil after competing at the Winter Games in Sochi.
In Toronto, medallists Dara Howell and Mike Riddle were greeted by a wave of cheers and a wall of flashing cameras as they arrived at Pearson International Airport.
Howell, who won a gold medal in slopestyle skiing, says it feels amazing to be home.
She says Canada performed extremely well at the Games, which she called a great personal experience.
The Huntsville, Ont., native was met by her parents, grandparents and various other family members, many of whom were hoisting congratulatory signs.
Riddle, who won the silver medal in the men’s ski halfpipe, says he’s overwhelmed at the warm welcome athletes are receiving as they come home.
Canadian athletes won 25 medals at Sochi, including 10 gold.
