California woman dropping off UVA student dies in car crash

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A California woman who was in Virginia to drop off a student at the University of Virginia has died after being struck by a car near campus.

The Albemarle County Police Department said in a statement that 57-year-old Bonnie Baha of San Marino, California, was struck by a car just before 1 p.m. Sunday and died at a hospital.

Police say Baha’s husband and daughter were also struck and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say there are no charges at this time and that the crash remains under investigation.
