Car bomb blast targeting intelligence officers kills 8 near Mogadishu tea shop

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Police in Somalia’s capital say a suicide car bomb blast at a tea shop near the country’s intelligence agency has killed at least eight people.

Police Capt. Mohammed Hussein said the death toll was eight. The tea shop is frequented by members of Somalia’s intelligence unit.

The al-Qaida-linked group al-Shabab has increased the frequency of attacks in Somalia’s capital in recent weeks, raising the spectre of a return to daily violence.
