Philadelphia Flower Show partners with museums, brings canvases to life with ‘ARTiculture’

PHILADELPHIA – Winter-weary gardeners and artists alike may find inspiration in the colorful palette of the Philadelphia Flower Show.

“ARTiculture” is the theme of the annual floral extravaganza, which opens Saturday and runs through March 9.

The main exhibitors have partnered with major U.S. museums. Their displays use plants and petals to pay homage to work by artists including Matisse, Calder and Kandinsky.

Visitors to the horticultural extravaganza can also view rarely seen floral prints by Andy Warhol.

The event is billed as the world’s largest indoor flower show. It’s also one of the oldest, dating back to 1829.

The show includes plant judging, a butterfly garden, interactive exhibits and craft workshops.
