Gold medallist Humphries champions cause for women to compete in 4-man bobsleigh
TORONTO – Defending Olympic gold medallist Kaillie Humphries has her sights set on a new goal in bobsleigh: having women compete in the four-man competition.
Humphries says she plans to propose the idea to her sport’s international governing body this summer.
And she hopes to lead the charge by seeking to train with men as the pilot of a four-person sled.
The Calgary athlete says she knows the process will be a long and tough one but feels she’s the right person to get the ball rolling.
Humphries also says she plans to compete in the next Winter Games in 2018.
Humphries and Heather Moyse earned a second consecutive gold medal at the Sochi Games and were also chosen as Canada’s flag bearers for the closing ceremony.
