The body of a 54-year-old Vernon woman was found in her basement suite more than a week ago and RCMP now say her death was suspicious.
Officers were called to the woman’s home on 24 Avenue in the Hospital Hill area, Monday, Aug. 24, and found her unresponsive, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Sept. 3.
RCMP say criminality is suspected in her death. Her identity has not been released.
Members of the serious crime unit are investigating and have been looking at video surveillance footage recorded in the area.
“As the team continues to follow up on all relevant information, police are reaching out to the public for assistance with this investigation,” Vernon RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release.
Police are looking for dash cam footage on 24 Avenue between 34 Street and 39 Street from 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24.
RCMP say no further information will be released to the public to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Anyone with dash cam video is asked to call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171.
