Man accused of killing two during warehouse rampage appears in court
EDMONTON – A man accused in a deadly stabbing rampage at a grocery warehouse in Edmonton has appeared briefly in court.
A handcuffed Jayme Pasieka (JAY’-mee pah-SAY’-kah) was on closed-circuit TV from the city’s remand centre.
He confirmed his name to the judge but said nothing else.
His defence lawyer put the case over until May 5.
The 29-year-old faces several charges including first-degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Two workers died and four were injured Friday when a man wearing a military-style vest burst into a huge Loblaws distribution complex during a shift-change and started stabbing people.
Thierno Bah, who was 41, and Fitzroy Harris, who was 50, were killed.
Police said Pasieka worked at the warehouse and was just starting his shift when the violence erupted.
