UPDATE: Crews working to contain Law Creek wildfire
UPDATE: The Law Creek wildfire near West Kelowna is keeping crews busy today.
A media release sent out today, July 22, estimates the fire is at 10 hectares, about six km southwest of West Kelowna.
Today the 11 firefighters and air support will work to contain the flanks of the fire and construct control lines where possible.
Crews are working 25 feet into the fire from the perimeter.
The smoke from this and the surrounding wildfires as prompted a special air quality statement from Environment Canada.
The smoke is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Peachland. It is also affecting Penticton, Summerland, Naramata, Keremeos, Oliver and Osoyoos.
If you are susceptible to these air conditions Environment Canada recommends to stay inside or find an air conditioned public place such as a library, mall or recreation centre.
