B.C. coroners service needs help to identify tattooed man found dead on ferry

NANAIMO, B.C. – The coroners service and police are hoping three distinctive tattoos will help identify a man found dead aboard a B.C. ferry heading from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay.

He was seen walking around the Departure Bay terminal in Nanaimo and talking to people for about an hour before the last sailing at 9 p.m. on Feb. 19.

The service says the man who was between 50 and 60 years old sported tattoos of a large wolf-like animal with bared teeth on his right forearm, a Celtic band on his right upper arm and a Thumper rabbit on his right pelvic area.

He collapsed on the upper car deck and could not be resuscitated.

The West Vancouver Police Department’s missing persons unit is investigating the case of the foot passenger who had light blue-green eyes and light brown hair in a buzz-cut style.

The coroners service says he had no baggage and was wearing glasses, a black-and-white checked shirt over a light-weight black jacket, jeans and black Nike shoes with a fluorescent green-yellow swoosh.
