VERNON – A pair of alleged car thieves have been arrested after an RCMP helicopter tracked their movements to Silver Star Mountain.
North Okanagan RCMP used the air services helicopter to track a vehicle stolen from Kelowna, Friday, July 20, media officer Const. Kelly Brett said in a press release.
The car and two occupants had been spotted at the Vernon Recreation Centre today, July 25 but fled before police arrived. It was later spotted heading toward Silver Star and tracked by the police helicopter up the mountain.
A 35-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman from the Vernon area were arrested inside some resort businesses, police say, and face possible charges including dangerous driving, theft under $5,000 and flight from police.
