Hang gliding pilot accused of swallowing memory card will be tried next year
CHILLIWACK, B.C. – The man charged with obstruction of justice in a deadly hang-gliding mishap will stand trial on thecharges next April.
Police have accused William Jonathan Orders of swallowing a memory card from his hang-glider’s camera after one of his clients fell to her death.
Twenty-seven-year-old Laneami Godinez-Alvila was taking the tandem hang-gliding trip as a celebration of her second-year anniversary with her boyfriend.
In May, Orders made a public apology to the woman’s family and friends for the incident, saying he “panicked” in the moments after the accident.
Orders will stand trial April 15, 2013
