Local actor in TV commercial for Call of Duty

KELOWNA – There’s a familiar face in a live action trailer for the latest Call of Duty video game.

Taylor Kitsch, who was born in Kelowna, has been landing some exciting gigs lately. He played Tim Riggins in director Peter Berg’s HBO series Friday Night Lights and last month announced he was close to signing on as a recurring character for the second season of True Detective opposite Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn.

The latest TV spot however, isn’t a movie and it isn’t a TV show, it’s a live action trailer for the multi-platform franchise Call of Duty.

In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Kitsch, wearing a futuristic exo-suit that gives him superhuman abilities, fights his way through a war zone in the year 2059. The trailer, which was also directed by Berg, features Gone Girl’s Emily Ratajkowski and Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was released by Activision November 4.

Kitsch has also appeared in feature films Gospel Hill, John Tucker Must Die, Battleship, John Carter and The Covenant. He also played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

He was named one of Rolling Stone’s Hot 100 in 2009 and Variety Magazine listed him as one of ten actors to watch in 2011.
