Bobrovsky named NHL’s first star as Blue Jackets climb to 3rd in Metropolitan

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is the NHL’s first star of the week after his stellar goaltending helped the Blue Jackets climb into third place in the Metropolitan Division.

Bobrovsky posted a 2-0-1 record with a 1.58 goals-against average and .950 save percentage to help the Blue Jackets (35-26-6) gain five of a possible six points last week.

He capped the week by making 32 saves and stopping 2-of-4 shootout attempts in a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

Bobrovsky has an 18-5-2 record with a 2.13 goals-against average, .932 save percentage and two shutouts in his last 25 outings.

New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo was named second star, racking up seven points (one goal, six assists) to help his team win two of three games.

San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi took third star honours, posting three wins, a 1.67 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and a shutout to help the Sharks extend their winning streak to six games.
