MONTREAL – A member of the Hells Angels chapter in Trois-Rivieres has been sentenced to a total of 27 years in jail.

Normand (Casper) Ouimet was sentenced today by two different judges in two different cases.

His two sentences will run consecutively.

Quebec Superior Court Justice James Brunton sentenced Ouimet to 25 years after he pleaded guilty to reduced charges of conspiracy to commit murder stemming from Operation SharQc, a major sweep against the criminal biker gang.

A second jail term came from Justice Claude Champagne, who sentenced Ouimet to two years after the biker pleaded guilty in a case known as Operation Dilligence.

That was an attempt by a group to take control of masonry businesses for money laundering purposes.

Ouimet was arrested in 2010 and has been detained since then. Because time in detention is calculated as double time, he has a total of 20 years and three months left to serve.

Operation SharQc was a sweep of the Hells Angels and its sympathizers in 2009 that led to 156 arrests.

Operation Dilligence also took place in late 2009.

Ouimet managed to evade arrest and was nabbed one year after the police sweeps.
