Attempted Penticton pickup theft caught on dash cam
PENTICTON – Dash cam footage of an attempted truck theft helped put the suspect behind bars in Penticton last week.
On Tuesday, Aug. 14 a Penticton homeowner reported a break and enter at his residence, according to an RCMP media release.
The suspect also tried to steal the homeowner's pickup truck parked nearby but was unable to before police arrived, police say. The suspect dropped the stolen goods and got away.
Police retrieved dash cam footage of the suspect and two days later RCMP made an arrest.
RCMP say Jason Van Raes was held in custody and appeared in court today, Aug. 20, facing a variety of charges including breaking and entering.
