Israeli Rolling Stone fans get satisfaction as Tel Aviv show announced for June

JERUSALEM – Israeli fans of the Rolling Stones have complained for years that they can’t get no satisfaction. Until now.

Promoter Shuki Weiss said Tuesday that the legendary band will play its first concert in Israel — in Tel Aviv on June 4.

Israeli rock fans often get the blues as their favourite bands skip the country on their world tours. Some musicians stay away due to politics while for others it is a matter of logistics. Whenever a major band comes it is big news.

The Stones recently postponed their tour of Australia and New Zealand after the suicide of singer Mick Jagger’s girlfriend.

Other bands playing Israel this year include Neil Young, the Prodigy, Justin Timberlake and the Pixies, who cancelled an earlier visit in 2010 apparently for political reasons.
