Quebec man convicted of murdering nine-year-old girl in 1995

LAVAL, Que. – A Quebec man has been convicted of murdering a nine-year-old girl in 1995.

A jury of six men and six women handed down the guilty verdict in Eric Daudelin’s trial this afternoon after three days of deliberations.

Daudelin was convicted of first-degree murder, sexual assault and illegal confinement in the death of Joleil Campeau.

Her body was found in a creek in Laval, north of Montreal, a few days after her disappearance.

Daudelin was arrested in 2011.
