International climate report shows Canada not immune to global warming

The latest report from an international panel of scientists on the impacts of climate change shows that Canadians won’t be immune.

Two of Canada’s top scientists say the report shows that everything from fresh-water supplies to agricultural patterns to disaster readiness will have to change over the coming decades.

Andrew Weaver, lead author on previous versions of the report, says Canadians should get ready now for increasing U.S. demand for water.

Queen’s University scientist John Smol (SMOLE) says the country’s entire infrastructure is built on rapidly crumbling assumptions of what we expect from nature.

The report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change focuses on impacts and adaptations.

It represents the work of more than 2,000 scientists and expert reviewers from 70 countries.
