Victoriaville Tigres fire head coach Yanick Jean after playoff ouster

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – The Victoriaville Tigres have fired head coach Yanick Jean.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League club announced the move Monday on the team’s website. The Tigres have scheduled a news conference for Tuesday with general manager Jerome Mesonero.

The Tigres made the post-season with a record of 33-27-5, but lost their first-round series to Drummondville in five games.

Jean, a 38-year-old from Alma, Que., was named head coach of the team on Feb. 2, 2008.

Victoriaville’s record with Jean behind the bench was 229 wins and 196 losses.

Their best season with Jean was a 46-19 record in 2009-’10 when they reached the third round of the playoffs.
