New novel from ‘Accidental Tourist,’ ‘Breathing Lessons’ author Anne Tyler coming out in 2015

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Fifty years after her first book was published, Anne Tyler is set to release her 20th novel.

And yes, it will be set in Baltimore.

Published Alfred A. Knopf announced Thursday that the 72-year-old Tyler’s next book, currently untitled, will come out next spring.

The novel, as with most of her works, is set in her hometown of Baltimore. It is a multigenerational tale of the Whitshank family that begins in the 1990s with a mysterious phone call.

Tyler’s previous works include “The Accidental Tourist” and “Breathing Lessons,” winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1989.
