Family agrees that Mickey Rooney’s final resting place to be among Hollywood’s elite

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Mickey Rooney will be laid to rest alongside Hollywood royalty.

City News Service reports that a judge signed off Friday on an agreement between Rooney’s survivors to have the actor buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Hollywood Forever is the final resting place of Cecil B. DeMille, Jayne Mansfield, Douglas Fairbanks and other entertainment luminaries.

Rooney died on Sunday at age 93.

The actor had purchased a burial plot in Ventura County, where he and his estranged wife lived, but his estate’s executor says Rooney really wanted to be buried in Hollywood or at a veterans cemetery.

An agreement to bury him at Hollywood Forever was reached between his stepson, Mark Rooney, and the actor’s widow, Jan.

The agreement bars another of Rooney’s stepsons, Christopher Aber, from attending the funeral.
