OTTAWA – Prime Minister Stephen Harper is describing Russian actions against Ukraine as aggressive, militaristic and imperialistic.
He says the situation poses the greatest threat to world peace and security since the end of the Cold War.
Harper is accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of trying to turn back the clock and predicts that his efforts to do that will fail.
It’s time, he says, to rally western allies and the world against the grave threat posed by Putin and his regime.
Harper is dispatching Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird to consult with allies in eastern Europe.
And he says there will be further sanctions against Russia.
