Charges laid after men with bats, machetes smash doors of Saskatchewan hospital

LA LOCHE, Sask. – Three men are accused of using baseball bats and machetes to smash the front doors of a hospital emergency department in northwest Saskatchewan to try to reach a patient.

RCMP say it happened at La Loche Health Centre early Sunday morning.

It’s alleged the men were running and yelling and looking for a 27-year-old patient to continue a fight that started in the street.

Police allege the men chased two of the victim’s family members out the back door of the hospital, but left before officers arrived.

Mounties say they arrested two men when they went back to the hospital to get treatment for injuries they suffered in the incident.

Police are still looking for a third man.
