Eight nominees for 2014 BLG Awards as CIS male and female athlete of year
CALGARY – The eight nominees for the 2014 BLG Awards for male and female CIS athlete of the year were announced Tuesday in Calgary.
On the men’s side, they are hockey players Derek Hulak of the University of Saskatchewan and Liam Heelis from Acadia, football player Jordan Heather from Bishops and basketball player Philip Scrubb from Carleton.
On the women’s side, the nominees are basketball player Justine Colley from St. Mary’s, hockey player Katia Clement-Heydra from McGill, volleyball player Lisa Barclay from UBC and sprinter Khamica Bingham from York.
The two winners will be named April 28th at an awards ceremony in Calgary and each will receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship.
The awards date back to 1993 and are sponsored by and named for the law firm Borden Ladner Gervais.
