Cardiff backs midfielder Aron Gunnarsson, denying he’s linked to lineup leak allegations

CARDIFF, Wales – Cardiff midfielder Aron Gunnarsson has been backed by the south Wales club after being linked to an alleged leak of team information to a rival.

Cardiff has lodged a complaint with the English Premier League, claiming Crystal Palace obtained its lineup before their match this month. Relegation-threatened Cardiff wants the 3-0 loss overturned.

After Gunnarsson was reported to be the source of the information, Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Friday: “We will defend his name and reputation to the edge of the cliff.”

Goalkeeper David Marshall insists “Aron would never give somebody, or the opposition manager, or anybody our team lineup.”

Gunnarsson said later on Twitter: “Appreciate all the support.”

Palace sporting director Iain Moody, who was sacked by Cardiff in October, has denied allegations of spying.
