Blue Jays recall outfielder Anthony Gose, grab infielder Steve Tolleson from Triple-A Buffalo

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Blue Jays recalled outfielder Anthony Gose and selected the contract of infielder Steve Tolleson from Triple-A Buffalo before Thursday night’s series finale in Kansas City.

To clear roster space, Toronto optioned infielder Jonathan Diaz to Buffalo and designated outfielder Moises Sierra for assignment.

The 23-year-old Gose was in the starting lineup Thursday night, batting ninth and playing left field in place of Melky Cabrera, who left Wednesday night’s game when he was hit by a pitch.

The Blue Jays said Cabrera remained day to day with a bruised shin.

Gose has spent parts of three seasons with the Blue Jays, hitting .238 with three homers and 23 RBIs in 109 games. Tolleson had appeared in 19 games for Buffalo this season, hitting .236 with one homer and nine RBIs.
