VERNON, B.C. – A teenager from Vernon, B.C., has died in a weekend crash in the north Okanagan.
The 14-year-old boy was the passenger in a northbound Pontiac Sunfire that veered across Highway 97, near Oyama, slamming into a southbound pickup truck.
The Sunday afternoon crash flipped the truck on its roof and sent the small car careening into a ditch, seriously injuring the 17-year-old male driver.
He was airlifted to hospital in Kelowna while the 25-year-old Lumby woman driving the truck is also being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Her 26-year-old male passenger suffered only minor injuries.
A cause of the crash is being investigated but RCMP say speed and alcohol have been ruled out. (CKIZ)
