Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (16,031.01, up 12.15 points)

Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G) Basic Materials. Down 61 cents, or 4.01 per cent, to $14.60 on 11.7 million shares.

Tahoe Resources Inc. (TSX:THO). Mining. Up six cents, or 1.24 per cent, to $4.89 on 9.2 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Industrials. Up one cent, or 0.36 per cent, to $2.79 on 8.6 million shares.

Nemaska Lithium Inc. (TSX:NMX). Materials. Up 2.5 cents, or 7.69 per cent, to 35 cents on 8.5 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Energy. Down three cents, or 0.33 per cent, to $9.07 on 8.3 million shares.

Aurora Cannabis Inc. (TSX:ACB). Health care. Down 16 cents, or 1.72 per cent, to $9.14 on 7.8 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Royal Bank of Canada. (TSX:RY). Down 53 cents, or 0.52 per cent, to $101.74. The bank hiked its quarterly dividend to common shareholders by four cents to $1.02 per share and reported a five per cent bump in quarterly profits for its first quarter. The news came despite what the bank called “challenging market conditions.”

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Down 42 cents, or 2.39 per cent, to $17.13. The gold miner said it has “reviewed the opportunity” to merge with rival Colorado-based Newmont Mining Corp. but that no decision has been made.

SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX:SNC) Down $1.05, or 2.93 per cent, to $34.76. The engineering and construction company slashed its dividend by 65 per cent and reported a fourth-quarter loss of $1.6 billion. It will now pay a quarterly dividend of 10 cents per share compared with its earlier payment of 28.7 cents per share.
