WASHINGTON – Company Doe is a secret no more.
The Ergobaby baby carrier company has acknowledged that it is the firm known as “Company Doe” in a lawsuit against the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The company sued over a safety complaint suggesting one of its carriers was linked to the death of an infant. That is something the company disputes and a federal judge in Maryland reaffirmed when he ruled in favour of Ergobaby.
The judge allowed the company to pursue the case under pseudonym as it fought to prevent publication of the complaint in the agency’s online database for consumers.
Ergobaby came forward after a federal appeals court ordered a lower court to unseal the case.
