CALGARY – The Calgary Stampeders have acquired the first overall pick of the CFL draft from the Ottawa Redblacks.
The expansion club gave up the pick and the rights to centre Marwan Hage in exchange for offensive lineman Jon Gott.
Hage spent 10 seasons with Hamilton before being selected by Ottawa in the CFL expansion draft last December.
He announced his retirement last month.
Ottawa will also reportedly receive a conditional pick if Calgary trades Hage’s rights to another team.
Gott, a 28-year-old Edmonton native, is a five-year veteran who started 14 of 16 games last season.
