Guelph Storm roll into Memorial Cup final with 6-3 win over Val-d’Or Foreurs

LONDON, Ont. – The Guelph Storm secured a berth in the Memorial Cup final with a 6-3 win over the Val-d’Or Foreurs on Monday

Kerby Rychel, Zach Mitchell, Jason Dickinson, Pius Suter, Tyler Bertuzzi and Robbi Fabbri scored for the Ontario Hockey League champions.

Randy Gazzola, Timotej Sille and Anthony Beauregard replied for the Foreurs.

Storm goalie Justin Nichols made 30 saves for the win. Val-d’Or’s Antoine Bibeau gave up six goals and was replaced after two periods by Keven Bouchard.

Guelph is 2-0 and face the winless London Knights in their final preliminary-round game Wednesday

The Foreurs and the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings are 1-1 and meet Tuesday.

The host Knights need a win over Guelph or they’re done.
