Galchenyuk’s overtime goal lifts Habs to 3-2 win; Rangers lead series 2-1

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Alex Galchenyuk scored in overtime as the Montreal Canadiens edged the New York Rangers 3-2 on Thursday in Game 3 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference final.

New York holds a 2-1 series lead despite the loss.

Daniel Briere scored with 3:02 left in the third period to give Montreal a short-lived 2-1 lead.

New York’s Chris Kreider forced the extra period with 29 seconds left in the third.

Andrei Markov scored early in the second period to tie the game 1-1 for Montreal.

Carl Hagelin had given the Rangers an early 1-0 lead 15:18 into the first period.
