Hudak to axe ‘job-blocking’ College of Trades ‘immediately’ if elected

PICKERING, Ont. – Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak is again promising to dismantle the Ontario College of Trades if he’s elected.

Hudak calls the college a tax on those who use their hands.

Speaking at a hair salon in Pickering today, the Tory leader said the college is a barrier to job creation.

On hand was a seven-year stylist who has been unable to pass required written exams because of a learning disability.

The college — set up by the Liberal government — is an industry-driven body designed to protect the public by regulating the skilled trades.

Hudak says he’d abolish it immediately if he becomes premier after June 12.
