Police nab arsonist at Mission Flats Manor in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – A suspected arsonist is in custody after allegedly setting a fire at a Kamloops transitional housing complex last night.

According to a press release, Kamloops Fire and Rescue contacted the local RCMP detachment about a fire at Mission Flats Manor at around 10 p.m. on Jan. 8. It was discovered that a room in the building on Mission Flats Road had been purposely set on fire.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man at the scene. RCMP say surveillance footage showed the man near the fire moments before the alarm went off.

The British Columbia Prosecution Office will determine the charges against the man.

There was no information in the release about the damage done to the room or the building.

Mission Flats Manor, formerly known as Osborne House, is a recently opened transitional housing complex in Kamloops.
