West Kelowna Warriors down Smoke Eaters in Trail

TRAIL – The Trail Smoke Eaters got a 3rd Period Penalty Shot goal from Kienan Scott, and an empty netter from Dallas Calvin to defeat the West Kelowna Warriors 3-1 on Friday in Trail.

The Warriors struggled out of the gate as the Smokies worked up an early shots on goal lead, but Andy Desautels was sharp in goal to keep it scoreless.

The first goal wouldn’t be scored until 14:04 of the second period, when Jake Lucchini took advantage of a turnover to make it 1-0.

With 28 seconds to go in the second, Brayden Gelsinger would tie it up for West Kelowna as he one-timed a Greydon Robinson pass to tie it up.

In the third period, Nick Rutigliano took down Scott which lead to the penalty shot, and Scott made no mistake going five-hole for a 2-1 lead.

In the final minute, the Warriors would have multiple chances to tie it up, but couldn’t beat Adam Todd who made 32 saves for the Smoke Eaters.

Calvin would seal the deal with a goal on a penalty shot at 19:50.

Next action for the Warriors is Saturday,  Nov. 29th in Penticton. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Listen Live at www.wdcr.ca and 95.1 FM.
