KAMLOOPS – A man who held a transport truck driver at gunpoint for nearly four hours and forced him to drive him in order to escape police in November 2017 will be sentenced by a Supreme Court judge in March.
David Lee Chappell, 35, will learn his fate in a few months for the offences he committed on Nov. 6, 2017.
Chappell faces numerous charges including kidnapping, using an imitation firearm, robbery and flight from police after a series of events that took place along Highway 5 over a year ago from Avola to Kamloops.
Crown prosecutors suggested Chappell should be sentenced for nearly eight years behind bars while Chappell's defence lawyer is asking for a two-year sentence with a three-year probation period.
Justice Sharon Matthews set the sentence date today to March 15.
