City of Kamloops wants your feedback on downtown plan

KAMLOOPS –  Kamloops residents can have their say on the City's downtown plan at an open house next week.

With strategic directions and development concepts as gathered from public input last year, the City wants your feedback to help guild future policies for downtown.

Topics up for discussion include transportation and mobility, infrastructure and environment, housing, parks and recreation, and community well-being, according to a City of Kamloops media release.

There will be interactive displays, a presentation, and a panel discussion with an audience question and answer period. The City encourages comments on how their strategy and development concepts can achieve the vision for downtown, and how to make their plans work in reality. They also want to hear any new ideas that may not have been considered before.

Your feedback will be used to help refine the development concepts and prepare a draft plan, the City says. Later this year the draft plan will be presented to the community before it goes to council for adoption.

The open house is on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. and goes until 7:30 p.m. at the Sandman Centre's Valley First Lounge, 300 Lorne St. The City says there will be snacks and refreshments. You are asked to send an RVSP to communityplanning@kamloops.ca.

The Downtown Plan is in its third phase and is expected to be adopted in mid-2019, the City says.
