Robert Garrigus takes lead heading into final round of RBC Canadian Open

HAMILTON – It’s setting up as a Sunday shootout at the RBC Canadian Open.

Robert Garrigus will take a one-shot lead over William McGirt into the final round at Hamilton Golf and Country Club after a record-breaking performance.

A third-round 64 left him at 16-under 194, eclipsing the tournament’s 54-hole scoring record of 195.

That was previously set by Arnold Palmer (1955) at Weston Golf and Country Club and Dean Wilson (2010) at St. George’s Golf and Country Club.

Players have taken advantage of soft conditions this week and shot more rounds of 63 or better than any other PGA Tour event this season.

David Hearn (72) of Brantford, Ont., and Graham DeLaet (70) of Weyburn, Sask., were tied for low Canadian honours — 14 shots back of Garrigus.
