Ontario man to face charges in hit and run that killed Montreal woman

MONTREAL – A 33-year-old Ontario man suspected in a Montreal hit and run that killed a woman is to be returned to Quebec to face charges.

The man was arrested near North Bay, Ont., on Monday.

Montreal police say they believe he was behind the wheel of a stolen pickup truck that struck and killed a 79-year-old woman in the city’s Plateau Mont-Royal district on Sunday.

The 2012 Chevrolet Silverado was located Monday night after Ontario Provincial Police arrested the driver for highway safety code violations.

The vehicle was stolen in Ontario between Sept. 20 and 22.

Police say the truck will be transported to Montreal from North Bay for analysis.
