Broken windshield leads police to handguns

KELOWNA – Two men from Kelowna were arrested for possession of restricted firearms after a traffic stop near the intersection of Hollywood and Falkirk Road in Rutland Sunday.

Although neither of the weapons were loaded at the time, ammunition for both was found in the green Chrysler Lebaron.

One of the handguns was described as a 6mm, small-calibre revolver.

The 28-year-old driver was found to be prohibited from driving, prohibited from possessing firearms and wanted on an outstanding warrant. He faces possible firearms charges as well as driving while prohibited. He remains in police custody and is expected to appear in Court Nov. 18.

The passenger was arrested but later released without charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
