UPDATE: Near miss with wrong-way driver on Coquihalla Highway

KAMLOOPS – A Bentley caught in a video driving the wrong way on the Coquihalla Highway was reported stolen earlier that day.

"I've had a number of cars but that's my baby," Ray Campbell said after seeing the video posted on iNFOnews.ca. "Somebody could have been killed."

Jonathan Corrigan was heading south on the Coquihalla Highway yesterday, March 21, when he came close to a head-on collision with the car.

As caught on dash cam video and posted on YouTube, Corrigan was five or six kilometres north of Exit 186 about 6:30 p.m. yesterday, when the Bentley came at him heading north in the southbound lane.

"I thought maybe the guy was stopped near the bottom of the hill, that’s safe you know, maybe something serious happened, he wiped out, so I kind of let off the accelerator a little," Corrigan, a student who splits his time between Whiterock and Lake Country, told iNFOnews.ca. "I noticed the picture was getting closer and closer and I pulled off into the other lane. I noticed he moved a bit too. I was kind of having second thoughts. If he comes into my lane I go right into the ditch.”

The Bentley driver did not slow down at all, Corrigan said, estimating his own car was probably travelling at about 110 km/h when the two vehicles passed.

“I was paying full attention and still had only a few seconds to spare,” he wrote on his YouTube post.

Campbell has heard from another Facebook user that the car was sighted in Vernon.

The 2007 Bentley Contintental GT was stolen sometime between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. yesterday, Campbell said.
