Walker scores 21 points, Walsh adds double-double to lead Binghamton past UMBC 87-82

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — Chris Walker scored 21 points, Gavin Walsh added 18 points to go with 17 rebounds and Binghamton beat UMBC 87-82 on Saturday in the America East Conference opener for both teams.

Walker also contributed five rebounds for the Bearcats (9-7, 1-0). Wes Peterson and Nehemiah Benson each added 14 points and Tymu Chenery had 10.

Bryce Johnson finished with 23 points for the Retrievers (8-8, 0-1). Marcus Banks added 17 points for UMBC. Marlon Short also put up 13 points.
