Kevin Kline talks up daughter’s music career at Toronto film fest

TORONTO – While talking up his new film “My Old Lady” at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, Oscar winner Kevin Kline took a moment to plug his daughter’s music career.

After chatting for a moment about a reporter’s size 11 shoes, Kline noted that his daughter Greta — who performs as Frankie Cosmos — had written a song that alludes to women with big feet.

“You should check her out,” he said of his offspring with “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” actress Phoebe Cates. “(Her songs) are little poems.”

Incidentally, the director of “My Old Lady,” esteemed playwright Israel Horovitz, also has a musician offspring: Beastie Boy member Adam Horovitz.

“My Old Lady” marks the 75-year-old Horovitz’s directorial debut and also stars Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas.

The Toronto International Film Festival runs until Sept. 14.
