WILD WEDNESDAY: Three things to remember as fawning season approaches

It's almost time for deer fawning season and there are some important safety tips WildSafeBC wants you to know if you encounter a doe with its fawn out in the wild.

Remember to give females with young lots of space as they can be very protective of their fawns. It's also important to remember does routinely leave their young alone to feed so if you come across a fawn by itself in the wild, leave it alone.

For dog owners, it's best to keep pets on short leashes if you're in an area where a female and a fawn may be present, WildSafeBC says.

Fawning season takes place from the end of May to early July.
