CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela’s leftist government says its moving to revoke the citizenship of actress Maria Conchita Alonso, a bitter critic of the government.
The country’s foreign ministry announced in the official gazette that it would ask a judge to remove her Venezuelan nationality.
The actress was born in Cuba but her family brought her to Venezuela when she was 5 to avoid the Communist government there. She won beauty contests and starred in televisions series in Venezuela before emigrating to the United States and starring in Hollywood productions such as “Moscow on the Hudson” and “Predator 2.”
