Quebec City toddler recovering after ingesting date-rape drug at home

QUEBEC – Police say a three-year-old Quebec City boy was recovering Monday after having accidentally ingested GHB, commonly known as the date-rape drug.

The boy’s aunt and his own father are facing possible charges stemming from the incident.

The boy was discovered unconscious and in respiratory distress on Sunday evening when ambulance technicians arrived at the family home.

The amount of drug he consumed remains unknown, but he was recovering in hospital Monday and doctors no longer feared for his life.

Quebec City police say an investigation is ongoing.
