Broken water main impacting traffic in Lake Country
KELOWNA – A water system upgrade along Glenmore Road in Lake Country has not gone according to plan as water pours out of a broken water main this morning, May 23.
Lake Country communications officer Karen Miller told iNFOnews.ca that there was a planned shutdown of the water system for an upgrading project today but this break was not expected.
The break is near the intersection of Glenmore Road and Okanagan Centre Road.
“Water is going downhill, of course, as it gushes out of an 18-inch water main at 250 pounds pressure or something like that,” Miller said.
That water is flowing across Highway 97.
Miller asked drivers to avoid Glenmore Road and the Mountain View Road bypass while crews try to repair the damage.
Updates will be posted to the District of Lake Country’s web page here.
