Two CN trains derail in Alberta in one day; cars carrying peas and coal

Two Canadian National Railway freight trains have derailed in Alberta within 24 hours of each other.

CN (TSX:CNR) says about 15 cars left the tracks Friday afternoon near Wildwood, west of Edmonton.

Seventeen cars derailed Thursday night near Vermilion, east of Edmonton.

Company spokesman Jim Feeny says there were no injuries in either incident.

He says the derailed cars did not contain dangerous goods.

Friday’s train was carrying coal, and Thursday’s train was peas.
